City roads
Dhaka being the capital city, its importance to the rest of the country is immense. And that is why its roads, lanes and by-lanes must be of two lanes, well constructed and enlightened. But sadly, the reality is different. As for example, the Daktar Goli in West Malibagh, Tilpapara-South Goran Road from the Regional City Corporation Office to Ali Ahmad School and College and the R.K. Mission Road in front of the Gopibagh Jame Mashjid are in sorry state.
The Daktar Goli goes under knee-deep stinking water whenever it rains. Not only has that, reeking water always flows over part of it, making it terrible for pedestrians. Considering everything, immediate repairing of the above roads and modernisation of the sewerage line are the demand of the people residing in those areas.
Will the appropriate authority pay heed to the city residents’ plight?

Know who is who
Once I asked a post-graduate student about Begum Rokeya, a dedicated soul to the expansion of education among the Muslim women in Bengal. The man preferred silence. Few years ago, I met another varsity student and said: Who is the founder of Dhaka University? He could not answer.
Many of our friends pretend to be champions of our independence. On one occasion, I asked one of them: Can you tell me something about the historic 6-point of the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman? He gave reply in such a way as if he had heard it in his life for the first time.
Now can we claim ourselves as a rich nation?

Reading political literature
May I request every political leader, teacher, student, journalist, critic, writer and publisher to read the books of Political Science to learn the meaning and jurisdiction of rights?
Human rights are generally based on religion, justice, customs and traditions. Nobody can claim his right if it infringes upon the rights of others. None has the right to spread discontent and mischief in the civilization (Ref: Political Theory by R.C.Agarwall at page No. 181 and 184).
