An irrational decision of Cricket Australia :
Nothing had happened in last one year in Bangladesh that the Cricket Australia (CA) could take the decision of sending a fresh two-member observation team to ascertain the law and order situation in our country. As long as the report will not be submitted, the tour of Bangladesh by the Australia cricket team will remain suspended. The Aussies team was supposed to arrive in Dhaka on Monday.
We think that the main reason behind the unprecedented new decision is the recent debacle in England. Moreover, seven key players have said that they will not be available for Bangladesh tour. Critics say that the CA does not want to take the risk of another defeat within three months. That is why the officials have raised the bogey of terrorism in order to justify their latest decision.
In anyway, the government (of Bangladesh), more so some tall-taking ministers, who are used to find ghost of extremists in almost everything and everywhere, should do some soul-searching this time because their fault-finding tactics with religious minded people to appease certain section has back-fired.
Nonetheless the CA officials are definitely well aware that Zimbabwe, Pakistan, India and South Africa toured Bangladesh fearlessly in last six months.
There was no question over security during that time nor the guest teams felt insecure. So, we want the CA to revert their decision in the interest of world of cricket.
