The Tatar Muslims fear insecurity
After the Crimea government made all arrangements of referendum whether to stay within Ukraine or to secede for joining the Russian Federation, the Tatar Muslims, who constitute 12 percent of the population, expressed fear that they would face more injustice in independent Crimea. Perhaps, they said it from their past experience of long subjugation under former Soviet Union.
From fears, they abstained from voting and are now getting ready to court new administration. Islam teaches the Muslims to live in peace with the neighbours and make friendship with those who did not evict them from their ancestral homes or from their legal habitations.
Six independent Muslim states emerged through the fall of Soviet Union. Still many small regions remained within Russian Federation. We know that troubles hit some of those regions although peace prevails now. We think if Moscow show friendly attitude, the Tartars too will cooperate. So, the new State should work out a formula of reconciliation between the two sides. Let us hope for the best.
