Mustafiz needs compact care :
Suddenly determination melted away, bowlers gave away 90 runs in last 10 overs, expanded India’s score and Bangladesh’s target, batsman crumbled, lacked confidence and then conceded a 77 runs defeat in the third encounter of the three-match series of the one-day international on Wednesday in Dhaka.
There is no doubt that 3-0 is sweater than 2-1. But the truth is that we have won the series to get ready for the South Africa goliath next month.
Surely, 317 runs was a big score and yet the jam-packed stadium held high hopes in Bangladesh players’ resources and ability. But it did not happen. Almost all the batsmen fumbled, lost professional approach and concentration of mind, and looked hasty and quickly returned to the pavilion for rest.
Pace bowler Mustafizur Rahman from Satkhira has appeared as a comet in the cricket horizon of Bangladesh. He created world record of capturing 13 wickets in the first three matches, should not be allowed to get lost for want of proper nurture as happened to West Indian fierce fast bowler Griffith. Surely, he needs added care helpful for his physical growth/ development and mental maturation and should be treated carefully for both Test cricket and the one-day international.
Some cricket players are saying that Mustafiz should study former Pakistani asset Wasim Akram, who ran few yards and delivered fearsome balls at more than ninety miles per hour. Wasim survived as a fast bowler for longer period, earned reputation in all formats of cricket.
Once a gentleman game, it is now a game of treasures. Australia TV tycoon Kerry Packer changed the course of cricket, introduced day and night match with coloured balls and coloured uniform in 1978, and did something for which the world of cricket will remember him always.
