Brazil sends SOS
Brazil are finally sinking as a football playing nation. In Chile on Wednesday, the funeral was completed after loss to Colombia with Neymar getting one match suspension (extended to four matches on Friday). But none was astonished at the Brazil’s downfall and Neymar suspension.
The nation will now pass their days recalling their golden days between 1958 and 1970 when super stars like Garrincha, Zito, Jairzinho, Didi, Vava, Zagallo, Gilmar, Santos, Alberto, Pele, Coutinho and Pepe bemused the world of football with their wonderful head and footwork, skills, shooting power, concentration of mind and determination.
In the match with Columbia in the Copa America Cup 2015, the Brazilian footballers controlled the ball possession most of the time, but they were shy to take the shots into the post as if they lacked strength to kick the ball into the net.
Last year, Brazil beat Columbia in the World Cup Quarterfinal but lost Neymar due to severe back injury. Brazil’s afterward match was full of wail and total disillusionment.
If Brazil’s football confederation wants Brazil to survive as a football playing nation, the Europe based footballers must be dismissed from the team to compensate with the home based footballers. In addition, they must practise shooting into the net. Their defeat to Serbia in the World U-20 Football Cup Final on Saturday is yet another sad story of Brazil’s inability to shoot the ball into the opponents’ goal posts.
And now I can predict that Brazil can’t win the underway Copa America Cup let alone World Cup 2018 and the Confederation Cup 2017.
