World Badminton Cup underway

The 2015 Sudirman Cup is the fourteenth edition of the tournament Cup. It is currently being held in Dongguan, China.
In the final round, 12 nations divided into four groups of three are contesting for the world title. Defending Champions and hosts China and Germany from Group A, Japan and Chinese Taipei from Group B, former holders Indonesia and Denmark from Group C, whileMalaysia and South Korea from Group D sailed into the quarterfinals to be played on May 14 and 15. The two semifinals will be held on May 16 and the final on May 17.
The city of Dongguan is located just east of Guangzhou, also in Guangdong province. The host nation China target a sixth straight success and a 10th win in 11 editions from 1995. Although Indonesia won the inaugural title, they could not make it second. The Sudirman Cup was inaugurated in 1989 and is held once in every two years. China previously hosted the tournament in Beijing in 2005 and Guangzhou in 2009.
Each match consists of Men’s singles, Men’s doubles, Women’s singles, Women’s doubles and Mixed doubles.
The quarterfinals line up will be China versus Chinese Taipei, Japan vrs Germany, Malaysia vrs Denmark and Indonesia vrs South Korea.
South Asia Champions India made exit after loss to Malaysia 2-3 and South Korea 1-4. Of the three games won by India, Saina Nehwal alone won two, meaning that India have to battle a long way to find themselves as one of the top badminton playing nations.
