Revenue determines sports
One of my younger sisters asked me why did the umpires bless Indian cricket team on March 19 in the 2nd quarterfinal of the underway World Cup Cricket being held in Australia and New Zealand? I said: It is revenue that determines the results of a number of matches in cricket.
She said: If it is, then what is the justification of holding one and a half months long competition? I said: I do not know. The best answer is with the ICC- the cricket’s world governing body.
My sister paused for a while and said, “The ICC may bless India, but we bless our team-the Bangladesh cricket team, which returned yesterday (Sunday).”
