Tigers should take it easy
Bangladesh will meet defending champions India in the third quarterfinals of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 in Melbourne. On paper, India are favourites though Bangladesh team’s probability to cruise into the semifinals cannot be ruled out.
Former captain Ashraful Islam said, both Ireland and Zimbabwe piled up 280+ runs, exposing the India’s bowling weakness. Since Bangladesh team’s bowling strength is greater than that of Ireland and Zimbabwe, it will be difficult for India to overtake if Bangladesh score 280+ runs batting first.
There is no doubt that Virat Kohli and Shikhor Dhawan and Rohit Sharma are the pillars of the Indian batting line-up, they are not invincible. The second defence is Raina and captain Dhoni, who are also capable of jeopardising opponents’ bowlers. But they perform more by chance, not on regular basis.
Bangladesh have also Mahmudullah, Rahim and Shaqib to score a good total. As bowlers, Mashrafee and Shaqib have potentials. Whatsoever is the potential, that should be translated into reality. A former English soccer coach said, three qualities of a player are physical and mental fitness, concentration of mind on pitch, and conviction to win.
Let us hope for the best of Bangladesh.
