Peace must prevail

Businessmen, students, transport workers and people from all walks of life are requesting BNP Chair Person Begum Khaleda Zia to withdraw the blockades and hartals to bring an end to the sufferings resulting from those.
But they are barking upon the wrong tree, the solution lies in the hand of the Prime Minister, so they should shift their attention and ask the PM to hold a dialogue for an early election which would be acceptable to all and that is the only way to set the country on the track.
In the election manifesto of the Awami League there was no mention of discarding the CTG, they did it much to the consternation of the people and the present unrest is the out come of that step.
Should not the PM listen to people’s pleas and spare them from further sufferings by taking the right decision immediately?
Contrarily, the Prime Minister has ordered the law enforcing agents to take whatever steps necessary to stop the ongoing violence in the country. She said , ” I will take the responsibility for whatever happens ( due to the action ) but you will have to ensure the security of common people “.
To us this concern for the people seems hollow because if she really cared for security issue of the commoners, then she would have addressed the core issue, agreed to hold the general election under a neutral government which is the demand of the people. Prime Minister surely knows that the demand is of the sixteen crore people of Bangladesh, not only of twenty- party alliance so she cannot ignore it.
All the unrest will end the moment the PM announces the date of a fresh election and she should do it immediately to save the country and the people.
