Punish them
We demand severe punishment to those who devised and executed arson attack on a passenger bus at Mithapukur in Rangpur district on Tuesday, killing four persons and injuring 12 others of whom the condition of four is stated to be critical. We do not want such political programme as provokes death to life and burning of property, spreading chaos and anarchy in the society, and paralyzing the poor people’s means of sustenance.
We request all the political parties, including the ruling party, to sit together and to find out an end to the violent behavior and disorder.

Let the tournament help soccer
We are happy that the much published Bangabandhu Gold Cup Football Tournament will start from January 29 with six nations namely Bangladesh, Bahrain-U 23, Malaysia, Singapore U-23, Sri Lanka and Thailand. They will play in two groups of three, with top two from each group sailing to the semifinals.
We think that the competition will be tough and attractive. The good news is that several matches will be held in Sylhet because there is passion for soccer in that city. In this regard, we shall request the football federation to try for Iran, South Korea and Japan for a more lively and gorgeous tournament next time.
However, we want live telecast.
