Congrats Sk Jamal Club
We congratulate Sheikh Jamal Dhanmandi Club (SJDC) for annexing the Kings Cup concluded in Bhutan, defeating India’s Pune FC by a solitary goal on Monday. The victory will surely inspire our aimless youths, who have been groping in darkness for want of guidance what to do, to take up soccer.
Last year the said team from Bangladesh unluckily lost to Calcutta Mohammedan Sporting Club in the IFA Shield Final.
Although Pune FC are currently seventh in the eight teams underway Indian Super League Football, most of the players are oversees recruit and as such there is no way to underestimate SJDC’s triumph.
In this connection, we will request the club management to try to hold a mini soccer tournament in Dhaka with leading club teams from Iran, South Korea and Japan because that will help the local players to gather more advanced techniques about soccer. And we shall draw the attention of the Bangladesh football Tournament to the necessity of such tournament with national teams from the Central and the East Asia.
We want renaissance of football in Bangladesh and that can be done if we bring back Dhaka Senior Division Football League to be participated by the teams taking part in the Bangladesh League.
I like to remind our football federation that India did not benefit from I-League, which started in 1997. Watching the poor result, An Indian lady, Nita Ambani, undertook the daring effort of introducing Indian Super League (ISL) in October to be concluded shortly this month.
