Plastic elimination: A demand for urgent action
The plastic problem is one of the most up-rising problems of Bangladesh and should be solved immediately. Bangladesh is the fastest growing economy in South Asia, and the plastic problem is growing at the same pace here. Every year the urban areas of Bangladesh produce 6,33,129 tons of plastic, and only 51% of them get recycled. Most of these wastes are washed away into the water and are turned into micro-plastic particles.
Marine life consumes those, and the final destination is the human body eating those fishes. These venomous particles create serious health issues like cancer, congenital disabilities, infertility, etc. Moreover, there would be more plastic than fish in the sea in 2050 if the production continues. It would bring doomsday for entire marine life. Plastic pollution causes global warming as well.
Now, it is time to outweigh this curse. Government should ban plastic packaging elements immediately because slow action is just facilitating destruction. Moreover, the government should encourage general people to use jute products. The Bangladesh government has taken praiseworthy steps for recycling plastic waste. However, it is pretty hard to solve this problem if general people are not supportive. Therefore, people of all stages should come forward to save our country’s environment.
