Covid-19 Test Lab In Bandarban :
In the three months since the first Covid-19 patient was identified on March 8, the number of infected patients in Bangladesh has reached 75,000 and the number of deaths has exceeded 1,000. Also, according to various media reports, the number of deaths due to corona symptoms is close to a thousand. The number of patients in the Bandarban hill district, including children, women and the elderly, is close to 70. Chattogram Hill Tracts Affairs Minister Bir Bahadur has also infected. The lockdown has been declared from 12 noon on June 10 by declaring Sadar (including the Municipality) and Ruma Upazila of Bandarban Hill District as ‘Red Zone’ due to the increase in corona infection.
The World Health Organization has declared Covid-19 infection a global pandemic and recommended increasing the rate of diagnostic tests to prevent the spread of the infection. Controlling the infection situation becomes easier if the patient is identified early.
At present, corona detection samples are being tested in 33 test centers in the country. As a result of sending samples from Bandarban to Cox’s Bazar and Chattogram labs, it is taking about 10 days or more for the report to come. As a result, it is becoming difficult to control the corona situation in the hilly area as well as the disruption in the provision of medical services to the affected patients. So it is time to set up a lab here for sample testing in this district with a population of just over four lakh and to provide the necessary healthcare facilities with ICU, CCU at the Sadar Hospital to ensure proper medical care for Corona patients.
