Illogical Entrance Fees At Waterways Stations
People used to visit from one place to another destination for various purposes mainly for business, treatment, education etcetera and the passengers usually use the waterways, roads and highways, railways and air route. But they don’t have to pay the entrance fees or tolls in bus terminals, train stations and air ports except the launch terminals or steamer stations. Only these stations are collecting entrance fees or toll as per government policy across the country.
Since the bus terminal, train station and air port have no entrance fees or toll, so it is illogical, irrational and discriminatory to collect entrance fees only from waterways port or stations. However, the Bangladesh Inland Transport Authority have enhanced the entrance fees from Tk. 5 to Tk.10 i.e. made double for per passengers in each of the waterways port or stations across the country and it seems to be imposed extra burden on the passengers.
So it is a matter of pertinent question that if no entrance fees are required for bus terminal, train station and air port, then why such entrance fees or toll is collecting from the waterways port or station? It should be wise to abolish such discriminatory or illogical entrance fees or toll.
