Destruction of ecology under the nose of DoE
Nowadays, the fruits and leaves of various trees across the northern region are dying due to impact of dust, fumes, smoke, ash, toxic carbon and sulfur gas disposed from the brick kilns. Besides, flowers of mango and litchis are also being destroyed due to the same.
In my locality, the farmers of Rajshahi whose paddy fields are located nearby the brick kilns have complained that their fields were not yielding sufficient crops in comparison to previous years. Now, they are selling their land to the owners of brick kilns seeing no other alternative.
Now, banana is rotting, and leaves are dying. The green coconuts are turning dry. The scenario is also the same at the crop fields of nearing upazilas, including Paba, Bagmara, Durgapur and Godagari.
Most of the brick kilns have been constructed in the crop fields spoiling the agriculture. There are several hundred brick kilns beside Rajshahi-Chapainawabganj highway for giving the entire region a pale look.
I do urge the Department of Environment (DoE) and other authorities concerned to take immediate action to save us from ecological disaster.
