We must obey traffic rules
A few months back, school and college going students in our country organised an outstanding movement for safer roads. Citizens and students from different universities at the time expressed their support for the movement. But now, after only a few months, it seems we have already forgotten the lessons we had learned from them.
Vehicles hardly follow traffic rules anymore. And people once again refuse to use foot-overbridges or zebra crossings. Buses are back to driving dangerously and the majority of bikers are violating traffic regulations at every opportunity they get. As a result, the condition on the roads now is simply appalling.
We need to reflect on what the students did and why. And we need to ask ourselves whether we really want safe roads or not. Because if we do, then we must voluntarily obey traffic rules ourselves and not point the finger at others all the time for the mess that our roads are in.
