A plea to protect women and children
Nadia Murad, human rights activist and Nobel laureate, is a brave girl. Without any hesitation she said that the world has failed to help the victims of terror groups (World has failed to help terror victims: Nadia Murad; KT, Oct 25). Nadia hails from the Iraqi province of Sinjar and like many other women was also a captive of Daesh.
She received attention when she detailed her life story in captivity in her memoir.
World leaders were compelled to take action and rebuild the villages destroyed by Daesh, where 300 women still need to be rescued. Nadia cannot forget what she suffered as a Daesh captive. She still remembers how cruelly Daesh murdered people and abducted women and children in her village. I appreciate her decision to be the voice of the terror victims. She did not fear social values. Now she has become the first Iraqi to win a Nobel Peace Prize. She has shared her prize with the victims of violence and appealed the world to help them in restarting their lives. Nadia’s ambition is praiseworthy.
