Expansion of BUET is necessary
Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) is the most reputed engineering university in the country. It has earned reputation by imparting quality-engineering education in Bangladesh. Even in the present value degraded society, BUET is operating satisfactorily. Selection of students for admission and selection of teachers for appointment in BUET have not raised any question till today. This is now difficult in the present context owing to different pressure groups in our society. Most of the graduates of BUET go abroad as they get better job opportunity and they are doing well.
BUET has large campus where expansion of infrastructure is easily possible. But expansion of BUET did not happen like other public universities. A massive expansion of BUET is necessary to impart quality technical education to a great number of students.
Bangladesh needs more engineers in years to come. Lot of engineers from abroad has been working in Bangladesh whereas there are many unemployed youths in the country. Engineers on different subjects that Bangladesh requires in future need to be educated in BUET. Therefore, I request the authority concerned to address this challenge properly and expand BUET with new capacities as soon as possible.
