Save rivers from pollution
I was shocked to learn from a report published in an English daily about Dhaleshwari River being polluted by the newly built tannery factories. Before Dhaleshwari, the Buriganga River was also polluted by this industry to a great extent. Regardless of criticism from various quarters, the pollution of rivers in Bangladesh continues unabated. Little has been done to process waste materials discharged from these factories.
The government must inspect these factories and ensure that they follow proper procedures to process chemical waste materials before disposing of them.
