Lessons of Qurbani :
Every year financially solvent Muslims all over the world slaughter sacrificial cattle in the Arabic month of Zilhajj on Day 10, 11 and 12. But everything does not finish with it, as there are several lessons to follow.
The first lesson of the Qurbani is, whoso will sacrifice cattle, he must guard against sins and crimes. A son of Hazrat Adam (As), whose offer Allah accepted, told this to his brother, whose offer Allah did not accept”-(Reference Verse No. 27 of Surah Maidah.). It means that Allah accepts their Qurbani who are honest.
The second lesson is ‘live and let live.’ Allah has said in Verse Nos. 27 and 36 of Surah Hajj that we shall eat the meat and, at the same time, we shall feed the poor, the have-nots.’That is why Prophet Muhammad (Sm) said, consume the Qurbani meat for three days only.
The third lesson is freedom of opinion. Though Hazrat Ibrahim (As) saw in vision that he should sacrifice his son, he left its execution with his decision, (Ref: Verse No. 102 of Surah As-Saffat). The third one is patience. It is said that patience is bitter but its fruits is sweat. In reply to his father’s query, Hazrat Ismail (As) said, “If Allah wishes, you will find me of the patients ones.”
In brief, Qurbani teaches us to ‘live and let live, honesty, freedom of opinion and patience.’
