Cultivation of culture
A private television channel has been telecasting a serial for the last few months. The script focuses on a youth, among others. A large photograph of a renowned poet of Bengali literature has been displayed and the youth often addresses the photograph to take lessons. In truth, it goes against the values we uphold. In this connection, we like to request the serial’s storywriter, producer and director to read the book of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s Ausamapta Atmajiboni to perceive their mistake.
If they read page No. 111 of the book, they will be able to realise what should be the model of our cultural life. The great leader highly praised folklore singer Abbas Uddin Ahmad. He was very popular in rural Bangla and a legend in our cultural world. But unfortunately we pick up alien culture and forget our own root. In this regard, we shall request the government to include Ausamapta Atmajibani in the school, college and university syllabuses. At the same time, we shall ask the television channel authority to stop telecasting of that serial.
