Pabna now linked by rail
The whistles of trains are now heard at Pabna town in the morning and the evening. This the dream the people were cherishing for long. Currently one pair of trains is running between Pabna and Rajshahi to the pleasure of the passengers, who hope that the town will be connected with Dhaka by railway soon.
The rest of the world has known Pabna from long before. The Hardinge Bridge and the country’s largest railway division are at Paksey on the bank of the once fierce river Padma. The Hardinge Bridge is a steel railway bridge on the river Padma located at Paksey in the district of Pabna. It is 5,900 feet long and sign of wonderful railway engineering.
Besides, the Atomic Reactor is being built at Rooppur under Paksey union on the bank of the almost dried Padma.
Surely the government will take initiative to hook up Pabna with Dhaka, Chittagong and Khulna so that pressures on buses ease. The name of the train between Pabna and Dhaka may be given ‘Rajdhani Express.’ We think that day is not far off. However, we should be grateful to the government for bring Pabna upazila under railway network.
