Brazil were unlucky to have lost to Belgium in a World Cup Football quarterfinal match on Friday. The Olympic champions’ journey to misfortune began with a suicide goal, intensified by the goalkeeper’s foolishness-all in the first half.
The highest five times world champions did everything, except sending the ball into the Belgium net. To improve this shortcoming, they need a European coach. It is an unwise decision to appoint a home coach when all the players are Europe based. The Confederation of Brazil Football (CBF) should decide first who would represent Brazil’s national team as coach and who are the players?
If the players are Europe based, a European coach will be a good decision. On the other hand, if the players are home based, coach should be a South American in order to produce expected result.
Brazil won their first three world titles with home based players in 1958, 1962 and 1970. For the 4th crown, they waited 24 years. After 5th title in 2002, their World Cup performance had not been satisfactory. They were knocked out by France in 2006 and by Holland in 2010 in quarterfinals, and by Germany at home in semifinals four years later.
Many soccer critics say that a European coach can transform Brazil into a formidable team, unconquerable.
If the CBF does not become a football friendly organisation, Brazil may disappear as a football-playing nation, as it was said four years ago.
