Deaths under the wheel
The news published in the New Nation in the last few days is appalling and have made us very upset by its context. It said that police has not yet arrested Shabab Chowdhury son of Ekramul Karim Chowdhury a MP of Awami League on charge of killing a man under the wheel of his car in capitals Mahakhali on June 19, 2018.
The victim is Selim Bepari, 55, an employee of a private firm was killed by a car owned by the MP’s wife driven by her son Shabab.
Shamim Ashrafi, a businessman and a motor cycle rider followed the car to the NAM housing complex .Shabab was arguing with the motorcyclist who had filmed the incident on his mobile phone and took away the mobile phone from him.
“How many millions money do you need to forget the incident?” Shabab asked them, according to businessman Shamim.
Later in the night Shamim went to Kafrul Police Station and reported the incident but the OC misbehaved with them.
What an irony, why they were mistreated? Is it because the offender is the son of an Awami League MP? We protest and detest this sort of behaviour from the police department, they must do their duty sincerely which is entrusted to them.
We see the symbol of justice in the courtrooms but could we expect the scale to be tilted in the right direction.
