A loathsome act
The news with the heading “Muslim beaten to death in India for allegedly slaughtering cow” published in The New Nation on May 21, 2018 made us numb with shock and disbelief. It has been disclosed that Siraj Khan, a 45- year old tailor, was attacked in the Satna district of Madhya Pradesh State on May 18 and died at the scene. His friend Shakeel Moqbool was also attacked, and admitted in a hospital with critical injuries.
Hindus consider cows sacred and slaughtering the animals or consuming beef is banned in most Indian States.
But we wonder how thousands of those animals are being exported to our country before Eid-up-Azha? How could they send the cows to be slaughtered whom they consider sacred and call ‘mother’? It does not go together, Indian government must stop this sort of barbaric act to be repeated again.
