We remember Humayun Ahmad
Humayun Ahmad was a popular novel writer. He was able to create of class of readers. This was his greatest success. When we were school students, we used to read novels of Ashalata, Sourendra, Samaresh Basu, Shailinanda, Niharanjan and Falguni Mikherjee. There is no doubt that they created their readers in former East Pakistan.
To this, the emergence of Humayun Ahmad as a writer was verily a remarkable event in the history of Bengali literature. In his writings, there are both lessons and fountain of enjoyment. Humayun Ahmed fought against prejudice, superstition, dogmatism and alien culture. He did not base his writings on imagination only but on the contemporary events. That is why we started reading his novels and abandoned reading Indian novels.
We think that the relatives of the late writer should take initiative to keep his write-ups alive in order to thwart Indian invasion into our literary world.
