Who are favourites?
The 21st edition of the World Cup Football – the greatest show on earth – will begin from June 14 amidst fear of severe cold war between the West and Russia. There is no doubt that Russian President Bladimir Putin, the former KGB chief, has been giving all out supports to the country’s soccer governing body, a meek call to boycott the mega tournament citing attempt to kill a former KGB agent has alarmed the soccer mad six billion people of the world.
We do not want to mingle politics with sports. We want sports sweeping globe, jumbo events like the World Cup Football and the World Olympics. I think that the 21st edition of the World Cup will be the most exciting sports competition. I further smell Brazil’s return to 1962. That year the five times world champions annexed their 2nd title, but Pele could not play in the whole tournament due to injury except a part in the first match.
But the whole world saw a football wizard, popularly known as Garincha.
We think that Brazil will win their sixth title, no matter Neymar plays or not. Surely we shall find a new Garincha to charm the soccer world. Till then let us wait patiently.
