South Africa Tour: A total disaster
Bangladesh cricket team’s tour of South Africa is the worst in their cricket history, losing all the seven matches-two Tests, three ODIs and two T20s — by big margin except one only. The result may otherwise be branded as holocaust. Bangladesh lost 86 wickets, whereas hosts South Africa gave in 33 wickets only in total. Bangladesh could take three South African wickets only in the first Test, whereas SA took all their 20 wickets and won by 333 runs.
Yet our players, captain and management are not admitting their errors and weakness; they rather say, “We shall strike back in the next match.” As long as the hollow vanity will be in our cricketers’ hearts and minds, their future is bleak. The team management often boasts of Bangladesh team’s reaching the latest Champions Trophy semifinals as if we did a super result.
Contrarily, the West Indies and Sri Lanka never recall their past successes to hide current dismal performance.
Bangladesh must take lessons from them.
