Welcome Australia
The Australian Test cricket team are now in Bangladesh. They will play two Test matches against hosts Bangladesh in Dhaka and Chittagong. This will the first meet between the two after 11 years. Past record suggests Australia as favourites though anything can happen in sports. Cricket experts are saying that Bangladesh can cause an upset in the series because they have galaxy of stars to sparkle.
But we want an exciting and amazing Test match between visiting Australia and hosts Bangladesh like what the visiting West Indies and the hosts Australia did in 1960 on December 9-14 at Brisbane Cricket Ground. Each side scored 737 for the loss of 20 wickets. Score in brief:
West Indies: 453 (Sobers 132, Davidson 5/135), 284 (Worrell 65, Davidson 6/87); Australia: 505 (O’Neill 181, Hall 4/140), 232 (Davidson (80, Hall 5/63). The Test match was played at Brisbane on December 9-14. Had not Wesley Hall dropped the catch of Grout in the 4th innings’ last over (ball No. 5), West Indies would have won the first Test to take the lead. However, the interesting matter was that every over contained eight balls.
We want such an amazing series as the world of cricket will remember for centuries. Let us wait to enjoy a very good cricket and hope that the crowds will swarm into the Mirpur Stadium. We welcome Australia in Bangladesh.
