Misspelling of ‘Eid’ in Bangla!

I watched the TV programmes telecast by the television channels for three days from Monday as far as possible, but I am sorry to say hardly those programme reflected the Muslim culture and tradition although the Eid-ul-Fitr is an important religious festival of the Muslim community through out the world. It appears that the programme producers are either ignorant about the genesis and objectives of the day or purposefully try to hide our own identity.
In this connection I like to draw their attention to what Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman wrote in his book Ausampta Atmajiboni at page No. 47. He writes, “We, the Bangalis have two identities. One is that we are Muslims, and the other is that we are Bangalis.” The statement is the clear testimony of our national leader’s ardent faith in Islam. Then why will not the TV programmes reflect and promote the Muslim culture and traditions?
Meanwhile, a group of so-called intellectual people are trying to distort the spelling of Eid in Bengali language. In Arabic, there are three letters in the word Eid. What the people of this country have been writing for centuries reflect the Eid’s true spelling in Bengali. So, any attempt to change the spelling must be stopped to maintain harmony in the society.
May we draw the attention of the government in this regard?
