No Asian representative :
The 10th edition of the Confederation Cup is underway in Russia with eight nations from six continents, the reigning world champions and the hosts. But in fact our Asia has no representative because Australia belongs to Oceania geographically. FIFA instead of allocating one direct spot for Oceania in the World Cup Football granted Australia’s petition for AFC membership in 2007.
Australia being the current Asia champions are representing the continent in the ongoing Confederation Cup. In fact two Oceania countries are in the competition. The other is New Zealand. This is unethical and illogical. As such, we demand scrapping of Australia from the AFC for sending back to their own continent, ‘Oceania’. The matter has become easy since the World Cup Football 2026 will feature 48 teams after expansion from 32.
However, the tournament in progress is less attractive in view of absence of World No. 1 and highest four times champions Brazil. Part of the stadiums remains empty almost everyday.
