A win not so noticed! :
England won the 21st edition of the FIFA U-20 World Cup, the biennial international men’s youth football championship contested by the under-20 national teams of the member associations of FIFA, since its inception in 1977 as the FIFA World Youth Championship. The tournament was hosted by South Korea between 20 May and 11 June 2017.
In the final, the European nation beat South American representative Venezuela 1-0. In the two semifinals, England beat Italy 3-1 and Venezuela defeated Uruguay in tie-breaker. Germany lost to Zambia in the round of 16, while Argentina and Asia representative Iran made exit in the first round. Other Asian nations Japan, Saudi Arabia, South Korea and Vietnam flew for homes after defeats in the second round.
Serbia, the 2015 champions, and World No. 1 Brazil failed to qualify from their respective continents.
Matches were held in six stadiums having highest capacity at Suwon World Cup Stadium with 42,655 seats.
Argentina won highest six times, latest in 2007; Brazil made it five times, latest in 2011, and Portugal twice. The other nations capturing the titles once each are Germany, Soviet Union, Ghana, Yugoslavia, Spain and France and Serbia. The record shows that Ghana are the only nation outside South America and Europe to have annexed the cup.
In the end, we do not know whether the English team celebrated their FIFA U-20 World Cup conquest.
