The British Polls

The mid-term election in the United Kingdom (UK) will be held on June 8 on the basis of adult franchise. The ruling Conservative Party takes the risk of reelection after defeat on the Brexit referendum. No British government hesitates to go to polls if situation demands. It has made the British democracy an example for others to follow. The two other major contestants in the election are the Labour Party and the Liberal Party.
The British Constitution is unwritten and the Parliament is bicameralism. Party securing majority seats in the House of Commons-the lower house-forms the government at the invitation of the King or Queen. Since the British Constitution is unwritten, the country is ruled by conventions, which, the constitution experts say, have guaranteed socio-political rights of the people. And that is why the British people do not hesitate to elect a Muslim Mayor of London.
There are in the UK four autonomous regions and some other islands far and near. The regions are England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales. The country is 2nd in sports (World Olympics), third in military power, and 5th in world economy with 2.79 trillion GDP by PPP, 2.65 trillion by nominal, and $43,902 per capita.
We hope that whichever party forms the next government, the warm relations between Bangladesh and The UK will continue.
