Dhaka’s mosquito problem
I am deeply concerned by the news reports stating an increase in the outbreak of mosquitoes in Dhaka. It is inconvenient to remain behind nets even in the sunlight, and especially annoying to get attacked by mosquitoes in airports and office buildings. However, the biggest concern is the threat of the Zika and Dengue viruses.
The authorities must take immediate actions to tackle this problem in a city that has become a hub for mosquitoes. Simply spraying mosquito repellants is no longer enough; more effective preventive measures must be taken.
