Niko Graft case: RCMP quizzes Mahmudur

A team of Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) on Sunday interrogated detained former energy adviser and incumbent acting editor of Bangla daily the Amar Desh at a Dhaka court in connection with Niko graft incident.
Earlier, in the morning, Mahmudur Rahman was brought to the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka on the occasion. He was quizzed in the conference room of the CMM Court by a four-member Canadian investigation team in presence of Magistrate Rezaul Karim from 3 pm to 4.10 pm.
The RCMP team is now
in Bangladesh to investigate the graft allegation about Niko-Bapex deal of 2003.
It has been learnt that the concerned Canadian authorities sent a Mutual Legal Assistance Request (MLAR) to the Attorney General of Bangladesh requesting his co-operation in their investigation. Following the request, Attorney General Mahbubey Alam got permission from the CMM Court through a miscellaneous case for the interrogation of Mahmudur Rahman.
