Speakers at a discussion here have urged the leaders of different business organisations and traders to ensure reasonable prices of essential commodities during the forthcoming holy month of Ramadan in the metropolis.
They also urged the solvent businessmen to install close circuit camera in their respective business establishments to combat crimes during the Eid shopping time.
Rajshahi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) organized the coordination meeting of administrative and police high officials and business leaders in its conference hall here on Thursday.
Commissioner of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police Shafiqul Islam addressed the meeting as chief guest with RCCI President Md Muniruzzaman in the chair.
President of Bangladesh Silk Industries Owners Association Liakat Ali and RCCI Directors Masudur Rahman, Ahsan Uddin, Golam Sarwar, Hasen Ali and Farid Uddin also spoke.
Muniruzzaman highlighted objectives of the meeting and called upon the businessmen and common traders to keep prices of the daily essentials within reasonable, stable and tolerable limits during Ramadan.
RMP Commissioner Shafiqul Islam urged the businessmen to earn minimum profits during Ramadan, supply pure Iftari items and foodstuffs to the commoners and ensure smooth supply of formalin-free fruits, vegetables, fish, meat and other goods.
He stressed ensuring sincere cooperation of the business community leaders and local administrations to protect the consumers from the middlemen to keep prices of the essential commodities stable during the holy month.
