Rangpur City Corporation (RCC) has started cleaning the Shyamasundari canal to prevent waterlogging and dengue outbreak in the monsoon season for the convenience of the people of Rangpur metropolis.
At the regular monthly meeting on Wednesday, Rangpur City Corporation Mayor Md. Mostafizur Rahman Mostafa directed to start the cleaning work of Shyamasundari canal at the check post corner of the city.
While inspecting the renovation work, Executive Officer Ruhul Amin Mia said that the work will continue till the canal is completed and cleaned. Mizanur Rahman Mizu, a cleaning officer of Rangpur City Corporation, said, “We have started cleaning work from Siobazar Kapati Bridge on the instructions of Mayor Mahaday.” The places in the city where waterlogging has occurred in the Shyamasundari canal, including the Keramatia Mosque junction through the checkpost junction, will be cleaned up quickly. Other officials of Rangpur City Corporation were present at the time.
