RCC mayoral poll campaign starts

 The former member of parliament and JP Chief HM Ershad’s nephew, Husain Makbul Asif Shahariar began Rangpur City Corporation (RCC) mayoral poll campaign offering prayer at Mawlana Keramot Ali (RA) shrine at Keramotia mosque of the city at around 11.00 am yesterday. . He started the campaign protesting the JP Chief’s decision to nominate party candidate, JP city unit president, Mostafizur Rhaman Mostafa in the race.
Talking to the newsmen, he said, the party chief HM Ershad made a blunder to declare Mostafa’s name as the party candidate for city corporation poll. If Mostafa is nominated, the party would again lose the Mayoral post. So, I preferred to contest in the ensuing city poll considering the interest of the party. He also vowed to contest the poll even if he did not have party ticket.
 He also said, the party chief H.M Ershad has no control over the party. Few beneficiaries and opportunists of the party surrounded him [E] always. Hundreds party leaders and workers in the district became very frustrated and hopeless with the decision of the party chief.
Mostafa destroyed the party image in the district, he is the most opportunist and enemy of the party, he claimed.
 Ershad declared the name and introduced JP Rangpur City unit President, Mostafizur Rhaman Mustafa as the Mayoral candidate for the ensuing RCC poll in a public meeting of the city few months back. An anger and tense situation was created among the family members of Ershad soon after the declaration of Mustafa’s name for the city poll.
Later, he went some areas -Honumatola and Aziznagor colony of the city and held mass communication for the poll.
 On 14 June, Asif declared his candidature for the city poll holding a press conference at his residence Shenpara of the city challenging the decision of the party chairman.
