Mayor of Rangpur City Corporation (RCC) and valiant freedom fighter Alhaj Sharfuddin
Ahmed Jhantu here today called upon the female students to bring laurels in sports to glorify the nation.
The students, both male and female, should become physically stronger and mentally sound through regular practice of sports and exercises side by side their studies to focus the nation both at the local and international levels, he said.
The RCC Mayor was addressing the concluding ceremony of the annual sports competitions-2014 of Mariyam Nesa Girls’ High School here as the chief guest with Deputy District Magistrate Tonia Tasnim in the chair.
District Education Officer Shafikul Islam, former Mayor of defunct Rangpur pourashava Kazi Md Junnoon, RCC Councilors Nizamul Hassan Badal and Jafrin Islam Ripa and Headmistress of the school Feroza Begum spoke as special guests.
After discussion in the concluding ceremony, the RCC Mayor also distributed prizes among winners of different sports events.
