Mayor of Rangpur City Corporation (RCC) and valiant freedom fighter Alhaj Sharfuddin Ahmed Jhantu lauded Jatiyo Imam Samity (JIS) for distributing 10,000 blankets among the cold-hit distressed people in Rangpur division.
He was addressing a blanket distribution ceremony arranged by Rangpur city unit of JIS at Mulatol Kamil Madrasha premises in the city on Saturday afternoon as the chief guest.
Secretary General of the central committee of JIS Moulana Mohammad Abdul Malek presided over the ceremony.
Organising Secretary of the central committee of JIS Moulana Md Mohiuddin, its Publicity Secretary Moulana M Osman Gani, Joint Secretary and Rangpur city unit President Principal M Nazrul Islam, district unit President Principal M Abdul Aziz and its General Secretary Hafez M Golam Mostafa were present.
Leaders of the JIS on the occasion said that the organisation has distributed 10,000 pieces of blankets among the cold-hit distressed people including men, women and children in all 58 upazilas of eight districts in Rangpur division this season.
Lauding the role of JIS in mitigating sufferings of the cold- hit people, the RCC Mayor called upon the affluent people, professional, voluntary and charitable organisations to stand beside the cold-hit people through distributing warm clothes among them.
