Razzaque calls to cultivate all fallow lands for sustainable food security

Agriculture Minister Muhammad Abdur Razzaque on Sunday said the lands of char areas, coastal areas affected by salinity and adverse hilly areas should be brought under cultivation with a view to ensure a sustainable food security in the country.
Emphasising that no land should be left uncultivated, he also added the government of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been working tirelessly to bring fallow lands under cultivation. “All kinds of assistance will be offered to those who will cultivate the fallow lands,” the minister said at a view-exchange meeting with farmers in Noakhali, the ministry said in a press release.
Razzaque also inspected crop fields at Char Jabbar in Subarnachar upazila.
While inspecting the Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC) farms, the minister advised increasing cultivation of oil crops such as soybean, sunflower and mustard in the uncultivated fallow lands of the char areas.
