UNB, Dhaka :
BNP senior leader Lt Gen (retd) Mahbubur Rahman on Wednesday alleged that the government cannot get abducted BGB Nayek Abdur Razzak released from Myanmar due to its ‘knee-jerk’ foreign policy.
“Nayek Razzak was taken away from our maritime territory. Seven days have elapsed, but he’s yet to be rescued. Why is our BGB so much submissive?” he said.
Addressing a discussion, the BNP leader further said, “The government’ s knee-jerk foreign policy and subservient stance is the main
reason for which the BGB member is not being released.'”
All Community Forum arranged the programme at the Jatiya Press Club. On June 17, Myanmar’s Border Guard Police (BGP) opened fire on a Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) patrol boat in Teknaf of Cox’s Bazar district.
A BGB sepoy, Biplob Kumar, suffered bullet wounds during the firing and another BGB member, Abdur Razzak, was abducted by the BGP. Abdur Razzak is yet to be released by the BGP.
Meanwhile, BGB Director General Maj Gen Aziz Ahmed said a flag meeting will be held on Thursday to bring back BGB Nayek Abdur Razzak.
Mahbub criticised the government for what he said the slide in law and order situation. “A woman MP’s son has gunned down two people…people had not been killed in such a manner even during the feudal age.”
The BNP leader alleged that the ruling party leaders are amassing huge illegal wealth by looting public money. “They’re also using parliament to legalise the ill-gotten money.” Mentioning that there are various plots to destroy BNP, he said conspirators will not be successful in their efforts as long as BNP follows its founder Ziaur Rahman’s ideals.
