Tanners on Wednesday announced prices for purchasing different types of rawhides during Eid-ul-Azha. As per their decision, the tanners will buy per square feet of salted cowhide at Tk 50-55 in Dhaka and Tk 40-45 across the country outside Dhaka, salted goatskin at Tk 20-22 and Tk 15-17 respectively, while salted buffalo skin at Tk 35-40.
The prices fixed for this year are relatively lower than the previous year. Last year, tanners bought per square feet of salted cowhide at Tk 70-75 in Dhaka and Tk 60-65 outside Dhaka, goatskin at Tk 30-35 and Tk 25-30 and buffalo skin at Tk 35-40.
Bangladesh Tanners Association (BTA), Bangladesh Hide and Skin
Merchants Association (BHSMA) and Bangladesh Finished Leather, Leather-goods and Footwear Exporters’ Association (BFLLFEA) jointly announced the prices of rawhides at a press conference at a city hotel in Dhanmondi in the city.
BTA President Shaheen Ahmed said, they have fixed the prices in line with the situation in the domestic and international market.
