The government on Thursday announced the prices of sacrificial cattle’s rawhides on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha. As per the decision, tannery owners would buy per square feet salted cow rawhide and buffalo rawhide at Tk 45-50 in Dhaka. The price of those rawhides outside the capital is Tk 35-40.
The price of salted skin of castrated goats across the country has been fixed at Tk 18-20 per squire feet.
Besides, price of salted skin of un-castrated goat has been fixed at Tk 13-15.
Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed announced the decision in his office in the Secretariat after a meeting with leather traders.
Sources said, the fixed rawhide prices are lower than the previous year.
It said that tanners collected cowhide and buffalo rawhide at Tk 50 to 55 in Dhaka city and at Tk 40-45 out of the capital.
They also collected skin of castrated goats across the country at Tk 20-22 per squire feet and salted skin of un-castrated goat has been fixed at Tk 15-17.
Tanners said, 22 crore squire feet of rawhide are produced in the country annually.
Among them, 64.83 percents are cowhide and 31.82 percent are goats’ skin. Rest rawhides come from buffalos and sheep.
