Rath Jatra celebrated

Tens of thousands of Hindu devotees have celebrated the Rath Jatra (chariot festival) in Chittagong city on Friday with a mammoth procession carrying the deities of Lord Jagannath.
With colourful banners, festoons, male and female devotees in traditional dresses assembled at Nandankanon Tulshidham intersection from different corners of the city. Devotees, Advaita-Achyuta Mission members, students of universities, schools and colleges also joined the procession with their own banners.
Mohant of Tulsidham Devdeep Mitra Chowdhury presided over the festival. Indian Assistant High Commissioner in Chattogram. Dr. Rajib Ranjan earlier inaugurated the festival. The chief guest was CMP Commissioner Saleh Mohammed Tanvir, guests were Mohant Moharaj Srimat Kalipada Bhattacharya of Pahartali Kaibalyadham and Dr. Binoy Paul.
The meeting was chaired by President of the Central Rath Yatra Festival Celebration Committee Ranjan Prasad Dasgupta and General Secretary Shyamdash Dhar. CU Councilor Jaharlal Hazari, Shaibal Das Sumon, Pulak Khastgir and Rumki Sengupta, Anup Biswas, Md. Sahabuddin gave the greeting speech.
