Afghanistan off-spinner Rashid Khan will not be seen in the sixth edition of Bangladesh Premier League as he will continue to play for Adelaide Strikers in Australia’s Big Bash League.
Rashid has announced on Friday that he will continue to play for Adelaide Strikers in the Big Bash League (BBL) despite his father’s death last week. The Afghanistan star also announced earlier that he will not play in the BangladeshPremier League (BPL) this time. Rashid, who featured for Comilla Victorians last season is playing with a heavy heart at the moment in Australia. However, he returned to his very best against Mohammad Nabi’s Melbourne Renegades on Thursday.
The 20-year old spinner explained the reason behind turning down BPL and also said that he wants to continue to play in BBL, keeping in mind that the next T-20 World Cup which is set to be held in 2020 is in Australia.
Rashid told reporters –
“I was approached as well to go there but I always preferred to go to Big Bash,” Rashid said. “I love it. I love being here. It’s absolutely different conditions for you as a bowler. We are always playing in Asia, if you (play) outside of Asia, it’s something else for you, it’s something new each and every day. The T20 World Cup is here. It’s good preparation for us, for me as well, to be well prepared for the World Cup.”
The Afghanistan star played seven matches last season for Comilla Victorians where he picked up six wickets.
