The general election of the KAFCO Employees Union , a labour front belong to Jatiya Sramik League was held yesterday at factory premises at Chatori under Anowara upazila of South Chittagong .
Two panels led by Osman Gani Rasel group and Abu Taher group submitted nomination papers for the post of 13 office -bearers .
Abu Taher panel boycotted the election at the last moment on Friday but the election commissioner did not accept boycott plea.
In the the election , 290 members of KAFCOEU cast their votes through secret ballots.
Election Commissioner of KAFCO employees election Rezaul Karim Bhuyian told that Osman Gani panel clinched victory in the election of 13 -member committee with Osman Gani Rasel as President and Moinuddin as General secretary.
KAFCO -Karnaphuli Fertiliser Company is a multinational producing company situated on the south bank of river Karnaphuli in Chittagong .
Sources said the schedule for general election of Kafco employees union was fixed on January 20 last but following the stay order of the First Labour Court of Chittagong , the election could not be held in due time and finally fixed January 31 by the Labour Tribual , sources said.
Giving reaction after the election victory, Osman Gani Rasel expressed his gratitude to the employees of the KAFCO and said welfare-oriented activities will be taken.
