Farmers’ land is full of golden paddy. MP ABM Fazle Karim Chowdhury cut paddy in that land with his own hand accommpanied by leaders, workers and the cultivators yesterday at Raozan upazila sadar area.
Leaders, activists and local people’s representatives also came forward with the scythe at that moment. The Nabanna festival turned into a rice harvest festival. A smile appeared on the farmer’s face.
ABM Fazle Karim Chowdhury told the New Nation that we have 13,057 hectares of paddy land in Raozan, which is 91,040 kani if we calculate the local ‘kani’. As per the instructions of Hon’ble Prime Minister, I am giving utmost importance to agriculture. We make sure that no land in Raozan will remain vacant , no house, , no land is built on any land. I have said that the kind of crop that is good in the land should be cultivated. Even in the land, I am encouraging the production of different types of companion crops including beans.
According to sources, the festival was organized by the Raozan Upazila Agriculture Extension Department under the management of Raozan Municipality. Mayor of Raozan Municipality Jamir Uddin Parvez presided over the function. The chief guest was ABM Fazle Karim Chowdhury MP..Special guests were Raozan Upazila Chairman Ehsanul Haider Chowdhury Babul, Raozan Upazila Executive Officer Jonaid Kabir Sohag, Upazila Awami League President Kazi Abdul Wahab, Senior Vice President Anwarul Islam, Raozan Police Station OC Abdullah Al Harun.Raozan Upazila Agriculture Officer Imran Hossain, Municipal Councilor Kazi Iqbal, Awami League leader Swapan Dasgupta, Municipal Councilor Jasim Uddin Chowdhury, Advocate Dilip Kumar Chowdhury and teachers and students of Raozan Suresh Vidyayatan were present.
