Jashore Kotwali police yesterday arrested a woman for quizzing in connection with raping of a five-year girl allegedly by her son Babu of Dharmatala in Jashore town.
Sub inspector Nahian of Kotwali police station told that the police picked up Phulmati, mother of Babu of Dharmatala who raped the child at his residence on the evening of April 26. He called out her alluring her for a chocolate.
Samir Kumar Sarker, officer in-charge, investigation, Kotwali police station told that the police were hunting for the rapist.
Locals on Saturday noon brought out a protest procession in Jashore town and demanded arrest of the rapist.
The victim’s mother told journalists that Babu, a nephew of their rented house owner, raped her daughter alluring for a chocolate. Locals rescued her hearing hue and cry.
However, no case was lodged in this connection.
