A Barishal court on Sunday awarded life term imprisonment to an accused for raping a girl alluring her to marry.
Abu Shamim Md. Azad, judge of the tribunal for preventing torture against women and children Barishal, after examining 8 witnesses and other evidences handed down this verdict in presence of the lone accused Nikhil Chandra Shil. The court also fined the accused to Tk. 50 thousand or serves more one year imprisonment in default.
Ajibor Rahman, bench clerk of the court, said convicted accused Nikhil was son of Lakkhi Chandra Shil of Dapdapia under Nalcity upazila of Jhalakathi district.
The case story in brief was that marriage proposal between the victim and the convicted accused was finalized by both families of the victim and accused.
